Sheraton St. Hyacinthe
Sheraton Hotels and Resorts is an international hotel chain owned by Marriott International, the largest hotel and resort company in the world. Sheraton currently operates over 500 hotels globally, including locations in North America, Africa, Asia Pacific, Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
This project involved the construction of a 17-storey luxury hotel with 225 rooms that is attached to the new St. Hyacinthe convention centre; it is the first Sheraton to be built outside of Québec’s major city centers. The hotel also sports an indoor pool, fitness centre, penthouse-level Sheraton Club Lounge, 190 spaces of underground parking and 700 spaces of exterior parking and a total of 4,000 ft2 of meeting rooms leading directly to the conference centre and the Galeries St-Hyacinthe shopping complex. The interior promenade effectively links the convention centre with the hotel. A sky bridge also connects the convention center to the adjacent shopping mall. Connecting the three areas means visitors can travel between each space comfortably regardless of the season. The project’s standout feature is its elegant and ultra-modern design.
The construction of this hotel required impeccable coordination and great attention to detail because all structural elements, staircases and bearings, as well as exterior cladding panels for everything above the ground floor level was made of 100% precast concrete. A total of 2,336 prefabricated units weighing 7,400 tonnes were delivered to the site. The exterior facade contained 36,600 ft2 of architectural prefabricated reinforced concrete.
The project was completed on time and on a “fast track” accelerated delivery basis.
