L’Oréal Canada is a subsidiary of L'Oréal, a global leader in the cosmetics industry.
L’Oreal’s head office and distribution centre sit on 1.2 million ft2 of land. The construction of the 330,000 ft2 building included 30,000 ft2 of office fit-up work. Part of the challenge was that the European concept of the project required modifications to comply with local norms and codes in effect in Quebec. A day care center was added to the building plans while the building was already under construction, requiring coordination with and application of the standards of the Quebec Ministry of Education in order to receive CPE accreditation.
This facility accommodates the warehouse and distribution requirements for L’Oréal’s Canadian operations. The office wing is highlighted by a curved glass wall offering views to an adjacent park. The day-care facility and employee recreation area are separated from the warehouse by a sky-lit atrium.
The project was completed on a fast-track accelerated delivery basis and was delivered three and a half months before the scheduled delivery date.
