Industrial Alliance Building
Industrial Alliance is a Canadian insurance company with a diversified business ranging from wealth management to group pensions.
DIVCO had the mandate to build Industrial Alliance’s headquarters. This 25-storey office tower, which serves as the head office for Industrial Alliance, features an exterior that is entirely made of granite. The excavation and foundation work required particular attention as the building was completed in close proximity to a metro tunnel.
Also, because of its location in the heart of the city that includes McGill University and other heritage sites, particular care had to be taken with regard to urban integration and municipal approvals requiring the participation of various heritage commissions.
This 300,000 ft2 office building was completed on an accelerated delivery basis in 14 months.
The construction took place at a pace of one concrete floor every four days.
